Acupuncture
Traditional Asian theory states that the insertion of acupuncture
needles in specific areas of the body accesses the innate energy
or Qi, which flows throughout the molecular world. Through acupuncture,
the practitioner can guide the energetic (Qi) of the body to improve
overall health, or combat an acute or chronic “disease."
Disease includes anything that creates imbalance in the body’s
homeostasis. Scientific research, through organizations such as
the National Institute of Health (NIH), proves that the insertion
of acupuncture needles in strategic areas of the body causes neurological
receptors to release natural chemicals, such as endorphins, which
create areas of increased or decreased brain activity depending
on the pattern of treatment. The release of these natural chemicals,
in addition to many other physiological responses such as increased
circulation, may also trigger a positive immune reaction.
